Miller Named Texas AgriLife Extension District 4 Administrator
DALLAS – Hurley Miller, a 14-year veteran of the Texas AgriLife Extension Service, has been named the agency’s District 4 administrator.Miller’s administrative duties will cover a 22-county region in northern Texas. His responsibilities include overseeing Extension resources and supervising county directors. He will be based at the Texas AgriLife Research and Extension Center in Dallas.
“I’ve had opportunities to do other things over the years, but I’ve always turned them down,” Miller said. “By working in Extension I’ve had opportunities to positively affect people’s lives.”
Miller started Feb. 1, replacing Tony Douglas who retired Dec. 28. Before moving to Dallas, he served as Extension director in Harris County. He has also held Extension positions in Limestone, McLennan and Tarrant counties.
Miller earned a bachelor’s degree in range and agronomy from Abilene Christian University in 1993. He received a master’s degree in agricultural education from Tarleton State University in 1998.
An agency of the Texas A&M University System, local AgriLife Extension programs provide practical information and educational outreach in the four areas of agriculture and natural resources, 4-H and youth development, family and consumer sciences, and community economic development.
