Vestal honored with national Partnership Award

COLLEGE STATION – Dr. Andy Vestal of College Station has received the 2009 Partnership Award from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Service.
Vestal is director of emergency management programs for the Texas AgriLife Extension Service.
The award was given for Vestal’s effective and efficient use of resources in education to reduce the impact of disasters, according to Colien Hefferan, the agency’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture advisor.
During 2008-09, Vestal served as chair of the Professional Development Committee and on the Executive Committee of the National Extension Disaster Education Network with oversight responsibilities for USDA funds supporting educational research and Extension outreach.
